Teac MC-DX20S

$126.00 Released October, 2001

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Wall-Mountable. Very Compact/Portable.

The Cons:Disappointed by the poor MP3 interface: after the power is turned off and then turned on again, the unit must re-read the MP3 CD (takes about a minute). Skipping to the next song (in Shuffle mode, at least) takes too long. Perennial MP3 problem: album/song titles don't fit on the screen.

The Teac MC-DX20S is a tabletop or wall-mountable CD shelf system that plays CDs, CD-R/RWs, and MP3s. Its main unit (6x9x3”) is compact, but includes a full-featured CD player with a motorized door and an AM/FM tuner.

Then comes the exceptionally thin (2.5”) speakers, each bolstered by high-quality aluminum, honeycomb diaphragms. Lastly, the MC-DX20S has a 15W subwoofer with treble/bass adjustment controls. Some additional features of the Teac MC-DX20S include 64-track programming, a PLL-synthesized tuner with 20 AM/FM presets, and a full-featured remote. The MC-DX20S is certainly not powerful (only 45W), but it makes up for that by being extremely portable, lightweight, and multifunctional (clock, amar, MP# playback, etc.).
